Summary
A primary responsibility of this position is to develop and lead a team capable of managing all aspects of the production environment, achieving production, cost and quality goals, and meeting customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Establish overall production objectives for all shifts with consideration given to existing workload, orders, production flow, stock, parts requirements, shipping dates and sales forecasts.
Ensure customer orders and commitments are fulfilled timely on a daily basis; ensure that production goals are met and the producing of the highest quality of product possible, on time, at budgeted margins.
Plans the use of equipment and personnel to meet current and future production requirements, including department budgets and guidelines, production layout and improvement, and staffing and overtime levels including participating in CAPEX Planning
Lead the scale-up process of new material, meeting customer specifications and performance requirements.
Act as a liaison between upper management and the workforce to maintain productivity and the highest level of employee/employer relationships.
Define objectives in each area of Production and Warehouse Operations
Establish, prepare, implement, revise, and maintain policies and procedures related to production.
Ensure compliance with all site, divisional, corporate, federal, state and local applicable policies, programs, guidelines, laws and regulations; includes but is not limited to EHS and HR related policies.
Communicate with customers, management, internal departments and other Heraeus locations to resolve escalated issues.
Lead and works with continuous improvement teams on initiatives to improve safety and/or efficiency of existing processes, procedures and/or expenditures.
Handle confidential information with care.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws.
Supervisory responsibilities include the selection, training and development, assigning work, and performance management of employees.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field and a minimum of 7-10 years of chemical production experience are required. A Masters degree is preferred. Must have 3-5 years of leadership experience. The equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. A respect for and adherence to environmental, health and safety standards is required. Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate in a professional manner are required. Organizational skills, teamwork skills, the ability to multi-task, and the ability to solve problems are required. Computer proficiency in a MRP system as well as MS Office is required. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodology and ISO standards is preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Must be willing to ask for clarification or assistance when needed. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Communicating in a professional manner with people outside the organization and representing the organization to customers. This communication can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail. Must have the ability to handle irate customers with tact. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Ability to effectively communicate (orally and in writing) with all levels within the organization. Excellent interpersonal skills required.
Mathematical Skills
Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills required. Ability to conduct measurements and conversions of measurements.
Reasoning Ability
The ability to notice when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, and occasionally stand and walk.

Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however the incumbent may be required to work in production areas where the noise level is high and hearing protection may be required. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts as well as hazardous materials/chemicals. This person will be required as needed to wear Specialized Protective or Safety Equipment such as Safety Shoes, Eye Protection, Hearing Protection, or Breathing Apparatus.
