    About the job

At ReAx Biotechnologies, we are passionate about the discovery, optimization and validation of small molecules targeting so-called ‘undruggable’ proteins directly in cells. Our proprietary platform enables interrogation of any protein target through the integration of probe discovery and high-throughput next-generation chemoproteomics. We are seeking an enthusiastic, hard-working, and highly motivatedin vitropharmacologist with a passion to contribute and expand our platform and drug discovery efforts. The successful candidate will have a strong background in cell-based assays and be familiar with high-throughput assays. This role will be responsible for the establishment, validation, automation, and execution of assays for thein vitrocharacterization of compounds from initial library screens through development candidates across multiple programs. This role will not only contribute to building a strong portfolio and novel drug candidates, but also have opportunities for shaping company culture and participating in the “start-up” experience in a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Execute cell-based high-throughput screens across multiple campaigns.
    • Executein vitropharmacology studies and screening cascades to determine potency and selectivity of small molecules to rapidly drive SAR in hit-to-lead and lead optimization programs.
    • Establish and optimize liquid handling protocols.
    • Generate and maintain new cell lines for primary and secondary assays.
    • Establish and manage data flows and upload to databases such as CDD Vault with appropriate data QC.
    • Establish assays using various detections including fluorescent plate-based and high content imaging readers.
    • Critically analyze experimental data, and generate reports and presentations.
    • Collaborate with team members on patent applications, progress reports, and publications.
    • Effectively compile and present data to project teams in both written and oral format.
    • Communicate/present results and interpretation.
    • Collaborate with team members on managing external studies performed at CROs.

    Qualifications

    • BS/MS in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry or related field with a minimum of three years of industry experience. Title will be determined based on experience level.
    • Strong knowledge and practical experience in the design, execution and automation ofin vitroassays and information management in preclinical drug discovery and development.
    • Hands-on experience in the experimental design and execution of cell-based assays in cancer and/or immunological diseases.
    • Deep and broad experience in developing and troubleshooting cell-based andin vitroscreens in multiple formats.
    • Proficiency with common scientific software and data analyses (Excel, PowerPoint, Prism GraphPad).
    • Passion for continuous learning and problem solving.
    • Track record of successful multitasking, rapid experimental execution, and time management.
    • Strong record of scientific achievement.
    • Adaptability and capability to work on multiple programs simultaneously.
    • Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills.
    • Excellent team player.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Hands on experience with automated liquid handlers and micro-titer plate readers for medium- to high-throughput compound screening.
    • Experience in chemical library screening, analysis of patient-derived samples, and/or multi-omics analyses.
    • Extensive experience in cell-based assay development and execution.
    • Experience in successfully bringing a molecule to advanced stages of drug discovery.

    Benefits

    • Competitive compensation, strong equity/bonus incentives, and 401k.
    • Health insurance, dental, vision and other benefits.
    • New lab and office space located in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood. In walking distance from Randolph Street’s Restaurant Row and surrounding shops and night life.
    • On-site gym, parking, and bike storage, with breathtaking views of the city.
    • Deep connections across Chicago’s life science ecosystem, perfect for collaborations, networking, and access to multiple world-class research facilities.
